Big Al's Sports Bar 3641 Cox Road # F, Richmond, VA 23233 Please join my wife, myself and the Team in Training at Big Al's for the silent auction to support us in our endeavor to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We have personally secured some really good items for this, and I hear that others have also. Please Donate: If you own or work for a business that would be willing to donate to an item (merchandise/gift certificate) for auction, please let me know. I could use anything that has a chance of bringing in a bid or 2. Remember, all money raised goes directly to the Leukemia & Lymphome Society, everything donated is Tax Deductible and the amount credits directly into my account as funds raised! Donating or buying an item not only helps me in my fund raising agenda, but helps the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society meet their ultimate goal: finding a cure for blood cancers. Current Items we have in the auction:
Went on a 5 mile run with the team Saturday morning.
Flew out to New York City Saturday night, headed straight out to Times Square where we walked around then ate at Rockefeller center while watching the skaters from ice level. That was pretty neat. We got back to our hotel pretty late. We got up later than we wanted to Sunday morning, headed back to Times Square.
Most people who know me, know that I'm a huge Monty Python fan and have been dying to see SPAMALOT. When I found out that the Richmond show had canceled, and the the Broadway show was ending in January, I had to go. So, I got cheap tickets up to NYC, cheap tickets to the show, and a shit hotel in the toilet bowl of America (Flushing, NY), and we were set.
Of course Delta (Don't Expect Luggage To Arrive) had canceled our flight due to weather, I was prepared to drive up there. Air Trans to the rescue. Open seats, cheaper than the Delta tickets, and an exit seat (for my big, long legs) to boot! The flight home on US Airways was almost interesting. After hours on the phone with Delta, I finally got the refund department, where they issued me a refund for the canceled flight. In the process, canceled the return flight on US Air... Luckily they were more than accommodating. Due to the ticket (Delta) fiasco, we left out of LaGuardia a bit late, but thanks to a psycho pilot, we were able to take a steep dive into Richmond, bounce down the runway at a high rate of speed, and head to the terminal without hardly slowing down (really). Flight time from NYC to Richmond... less than 40 minutes. I'm sure that's a record of some sort for a pencil with wings.
Tonight... cross training.
Ok, spent the weekend and past couple days with a killer Sinus Infection, but got out and walked the Innsbrook Toys for Tots 5K with a group of friends on Sunday none the less. Hoping I can get back to training this evening!

I know, I've been slacking in the posting department. Well, Here goes...
Silent Auction... January 21, 2009... Mark your calendar. Info is in my last BLOG entry.
Last week, did some running and cross training at Golds Gym and on the treadmill. Was colder than all getup. Didn't go to TNT training Saturday morning because we had grandstand tickets to the Ukrops Christmas parade. That was pretty cool!
Sunday, ran in Jake's Reindeer Run (5K) on Sunday for childhood cancer. Maybe Run is a strong word. Tammy and David ran ahead, while I "Ran" with Joey. Lets just say that 1/2 of the first mile, I was carrying him on my back. We ran, on and off, as long as he could. By time we got to the last half mile, he was ready to run. I actually spent the last 1/4 mile trying to keep up with him. All in all, it was great fun!
Trying to keep up on the running, but walking a bit more because my shins are killing me more and more. We figure me sitting behind a desk is killing me, so I'm trying to get up every hour and walk for 5 minutes.
Anything to help.

Went to a Washington Capitals Hockey Game Wednesday night! Always a good time!
Not much training going on... Shin Splints have been killing me! Thanksgiving morning, the wife and I went to the Willow Oaks Country Club and ran the 5k Turkey Trot. All hills around the golf course. Just a preview to what it may be in Nashville. My time was horrible.
Gotta work on making these old shins work correctly!
Tonight, Golds Gym and some major cross training! Motrin, Ice and ace bandages are my new best friends... I know, either it's my shoes or I'm not stretching enough. I have been stretching more than I have ever done in my life, and I have new shoes... stretching isn't really doing anything and they feel a little better with the new shoes, not worse. Just gotta get past it, and I will!
